                University of kelaniya 

UOK history

          * In 1875 the Vidyalankara Pirivena was established in the Kelaniya Peliyagoda area by the late Ven.Rathmalane Sri Dharmaloka Thero .

           *In 1959 the University was renamed as the Sri Lanka Vidyalankara University. 

           *In 1966 female undergraduates were also given the opportunity to study at the university. 

           * BY the year 1959 the University comprised five faculties
                      1.languages
                      2.Buddhist Studies
                      3.Arts
                      4.Science
                      5.Philosophy and Research.

            *Currently in university has expanded its faculties to include 
                      1.Humanities
                      2.Social Sciences

                      3.Science

                      4.Medicine
                      5.Commerce and Management Studies       
                     6.Postgraduate Studies

                     7.Computing and Technology

              * Now there are 55 departments in our university .

Our Library 

      Library was established before 57 years and it has more than 243,500 books. We can go Ang time to borrow book and library has study room with all faculties there we can study peacefully and we can faculty to browse internet. Our Library provide around 1 laks e-books.
